How Your Files Are Processed

ExtractMyStatement processes your PDF bank statements entirely within your web browser using client-side JavaScript. Your files are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party service.

When you select a PDF file, it is read directly by your browser using Mozilla's open-source pdf.js library. The extraction, parsing, and conversion happen entirely on your device. The resulting CSV or Excel file is generated in your browser and downloaded directly to your computer.

When you close or refresh the page, your file data is completely gone from memory. There is no server-side storage, no cloud processing, and no way for us or anyone else to access your uploaded files.

What We Collect

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymous usage statistics such as:

• Page views and navigation patterns
• Button clicks and feature usage (e.g., "Export to CSV" vs "Export to Excel")
• General device and browser information (e.g., Chrome on Windows, Safari on Mac)
• Approximate geographic location (city/region level, based on IP address)

This helps us understand how the tool is used and improve it over time.

We do not collect, store, or transmit any data from your uploaded files. Google Analytics cannot and does not see the contents of your bank statements or any information you extract from them.

Cookies

Google Analytics may set cookies to track anonymous usage patterns across sessions. These cookies do not contain any personally identifiable information or data from your uploaded files.

We do not set any first-party cookies beyond what Google Analytics requires. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking across websites.

Third-Party Services

ExtractMyStatement uses the following third-party services:

• Google Analytics: Anonymous usage analytics (page views, clicks, device info). Google's Privacy Policy
• Cloudflare: Content delivery network (CDN) and website hosting. Cloudflare may collect standard web server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps). Cloudflare's Privacy Policy

Neither service has access to your uploaded files. Your bank statement PDFs are never transmitted over the network or processed by any server.

Data Retention

We retain no user files or financial data because we never receive them in the first place.

Anonymous analytics data (page views, clicks, device info) is retained per Google Analytics' standard policies, typically 14-26 months depending on configuration.

Your Rights

Because we do not collect or store any personal data or uploaded files, there is no user data to access, correct, or delete.

If you wish to prevent Google Analytics from tracking your usage, you can use browser extensions like Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or enable "Do Not Track" in your browser settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of ExtractMyStatement after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
